GEF Receives Accreditation as a Provider of Continuing Education in Nursing by Alabama State Nurses Association

Award received after rigorous accreditation process

Collingswood, NJ (12/13/05) – Graduate Education Foundation, Inc. (GEF), founded in 2002 as a non-profit foundation, recently became an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by the Alabama State Nurses Association (ASNA), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.

The intent of the accrediting process by ANCC Commission on Accreditation, which uses American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing Professional Development, is to strengthen and uphold the quality of continuing nursing education. The rigorous accreditation process also seeks to assure both nurses and the public that continuing nursing education activities provided by GEF meet the high national standards, requirements and criteria specified by the ASNA and the ANCC. "Quality education for nurses is essential to quality patient care." (ANCC, 2006)

GEF's CEUlectures.org is an innovative, new series of online continuing education lectures for registered nurses, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals. The mission of GEF is to improve both the quality of and access to continuing healthcare education for primary care practitioners. Many healthcare professionals are finding the lectures to be a valuable reference in their day-to-day practice as well as an effective tool for meeting their continuing education requirements. The lectures are presented in a multimedia format, which enables nurses to engage in a more convenient and dynamic learning opportunity, which is in contrast to completing home study materials or simply reading journals. Our contact hours are accepted by every state.

Developed by leading healthcare educators, CEUlectures.org consists of more than 100 multi-media presentations covering a broad spectrum of specialty care and medical and surgical issues. Lecture series are offered in 18 areas of specialty including pain management, cardiology, rheumatology/arthritis, orthopedics/sports medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and patient safety and risk management.

"GEF's achievement of accreditation demonstrates the commitment of our staff and authors to provide original, non-biased, evidence-based continuing education activities that are relevant to nursing practice in today's dynamic health care environment," says Cynthia W. Haughey, MSN, RN, CE Coordinator at GEF and nurse educator.

"The successful blend of an extraordinarily knowledgeable faculty, and the ability to leverage leading-edge, digital production techniques with an Internet-based delivery system, has resulted in what is truly the next generation of continuing education for healthcare professionals," says Dr. Nash, an international expert on outcomes management and quality-of-care improvement.
